In gaming, as in life, continuous improvement produces a lot of positive results. People benefit from getting better at what they do in many different ways. Success in personal and work or professional life is often tied to a person’s ability to become better at anything they set their sights on.

Kaizen, which means “change for better”, is a beautiful word that captures the essence of constant and continual improvement. It has even become synonymous to a Japanese productivity principle which many companies from around the world use to create a workplace culture that aims to become better at getting better.

The spirit of kaizen thrives in and outside the work environment. In gaming, you can see this kind of mindset in many recreational and competitive gamers who seem to be driven by improving their skills and scores in every game. It is rare to find anyone who enjoys playing who does not want to be good at what they do. Even those who play on their own try to beat their old scores. There is no resting in your laurels when it comes to playing a game. You always try to outdo the competition or the previous version of yourself before you got better at whichever game you choose to play.

This is one of the reasons why gaming in itself can be a source of continuous learning and development. There are always new ways to do things. And old scores can be beaten and surpassed in many ways. But it is something you have to work on. And getting better in itself is an art that is learned, honed, and developed with constant practice.
